My name is Stacy Lynch. I am the Owner and Director of Programming for Inertia Therapy Services, the US Organizer for the Association of International Aquatic Therapy Faculty and the Arizona Campus Director for Aquatic Therapy University. I have been working as a Physical Therapist Assistant for over 20 years- in 6 states, and in over 200 buildings.  I have worked with countless numbers of therapists across the country. One thing I love about our profession is that we all have a shared passion and hunger not only for doing what we do, but also for learning more of the art of rehabilitation!

I have often heard that American therapists are viewed as gypsies of their profession.  This is because our American instinct drives us to not only absorb every specialization that we find helpful, but then to modify them in our own image. Contrast this with most therapists from other countries…who are driven primarily to guard each specialization in their truest form, in the context of their origin. It does not take much deliberation to realize the pros and cons with the extremes of both mindsets. I believe that a technique, or exercise, without a solid understanding of the concept from which it came…is not only un-skilled, but of little value to our patients or our practice!

On that note, we must strive to protect the purity of the very methods and concepts that are the very root of our craft today. Having that been said, I also believe that we should always be striving to evolve those techniques with our patients’ response to our skilled intervention. Inertia is proud to ride that fine line between these stances!

Inertia is not strictly an aquatics based education company, but seeing as how that is the biggest niche that we feel needs to be filled in AZ, it is highest on our list, and where we have ironically found our initial “grounding.” Based out of Phoenix, AZ, we have multiple resources at our disposal—including multiple campuses with lecture halls, gyms, and aquatic centers to utilize. Please join us and help us change the industry!!!

The initial goal of Inertia Therapy Services was to offer a wide variety of continuing education classes to all Arizona medical professionals. It is our honor to reward registrants’ pursuits towards excellence by offering exceptional classes with lavish amenities. Our services do more than simply meet board requirements. We are also committed to building a network and support structure for medical professionals who wish to be leaders in the industry, and give them a platform to do so.

Having lost a grandmother, a grandfather, and an uncle to Alzheimer’s Disease, I do not shy away from stating it is my personal mission to cause a drastic change in how the medical industry views therapy’s role in their work with patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. Our current system is so focused on the patient’s long term carryover, that we miss the dire need to give a patient even just a moment of life. In order to make a change in the system, we must first change our way of looking at viewing patients with Alzheimer’s Disease.I have a passion to help family members connect with their loved ones that have lost their relationship with due to dementia. I am giving international presentations on the benefits of aquatic therapy for those with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia to help promote a change in the mindset regarding the boundaries we further set on our cognitively compromised patients.
 
In working in the medical field for 20 years, I can honestly say that helping people regain their livelihood is more of a calling than a profession. I love everything that my vocation bids me to do. I can also tell you that the medical field and communities do not naturally take to change very well. In fact, the medical community tends to either jump blindly into new directions, or simply be resistive to change. Yes, what you have heard is true, the medical field is more reactive than proactive. I have to admit, making a difference in the field gives me, and my team a rush!
 
I began specializing in aquatic therapy in January of 2005. It has truly become a part of me that shapes my entire outlook as a medical professional. I felt I had fell into something that was so well studied, and yet relatively unknown to the field at the same time. Bringing the aquatic industry to the forefront of the profession has become a passion of mine. I take great pains to try to find new ways to introduce the aquatic environment to Home Health, Outpatient Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Continuing Care Retirement Communities, Assisted Living Facilites, and especially the Long-Term Care Communities.

Our fees are currently set up on a case-by-case basis. If you let us know what you are looking for, I will spearhead a list of options that would be mutually beneficial.
