Johan Lambeck, PT

This award is for the Academy of Aquatic Physical Therapy to recognize exceptional research, exemplary dedication, and/or extraordinary contributions to the comprehensive field of aquatic therapy.
The intent of this award is to fulfill the Section’s commitment to the diverse aspects of aquatic therapy by recognizing those whose influence has driven this area of physical therapy.
Johan Lambeck, PT owns an Aquatic Therapy Consultancy. From 1979 – 1998 he was in charge of the Department of Aquatic Therapy in the Rehabilitation Centre Sint Maartenskliniek (Nijmegen, NL).
He is co-founder of the Halliwick Foundation, the International Halliwick Association (IHA) and the Association International Aquatic Therapy Faculty (IATF).
In 1998 he was named Aquatic Therapy Professional of the year in the USA. He has taught over 700 seminars on almost all topics in aquatic therapy.
He is the author or co-author of 4 books / CDRom’s, over 30 published articles and chapters in (peer reviewed) journals and books on aquatics and aquatic therapy.
In 2005, he joined the Cochrane Collaboration balneotherapy review group. Johan is affiliated as Free Research Associate to the Faculty of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences, KU Leuven, joining the EU Erasmus Aquaevidence/Aquaoutcome project.
His consultancy and teaching institute has clients in over 30 countries worldwide. As a knowledge broker, he tries to implement the existing eveidence in the daily practice of aquatic therapy.
Johan is the primary contact person for the Aquatic Physical Therapy International (APTI), a network affiliated to the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).
He is Senior Lecturer in the International Halliwick Therapy Network (IHTN), a part of the Halliwick Foundation and the Association IATF (International Aquatic Therapy Faculty), see www.halliwicktherapy.org.
